HIRAM, Ohio -- The Hiram College football team dropped a 45-21 loss to Wabash (Ind.) on Saturday afternoon
The Terriers are 1-3, 1-2 NCAC on the season, while the Little Giants stand at 3-1, 2-1.
Senior Domenic Paolo (Chardon, Ohio/Harding) threw for 286 yards and three touchdowns.
Junior Danny Robinson (Labelle, Fla./Labelle) rushed for a team-high 92 yards.
Senior David Perkins (Santa Ana, Calif./Segerstrom) posted nine catches for 87 yards and senior Joshua Philander (Fort Myers, Fla./ South Fort Myers) finished with 132 yards on seven catches. Perkins and Philander both scored one touchdown.
Senior Kyle Burchett (Fairport Harbor, Ohio/Harding) added 11 tackles (6 solo, 5 assists), with two coming for a loss. He also recorded one sack.
Wabash got on the board early. The Little Giants had a 10-0 start within the first half of the opening quarter. Hiram cut Wabash's lead to three when Philander caught a 45-yard pass from Paolo. The Little Giants answered back with another touchdown to give Wabash a 17-7 lead going into the second quarter.
The Terriers were the ones to score first in the second quarter. Paolo connected with senior Jacob Luc (Freemont, Ohio/ Freemont Ross), who found the endzone to make the score 17-14 in favor of the Little Giants. Wabash then scored two more touchdowns to make the score 31-14 going into halftime.
The Little Giants were scoreless in the third quarter. But Perkins scored a touchdown to cut Wabash's lead to ten.
The Little Giants scored two touchdowns in the final fifteen minutes to secure the win.
Wabash outgained the Terriers 397-382 in the contest.
The Terriers will look to rebound on Saturday, October 8 as they host Denison under the lights. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
