Men's Golf Finishes Tenth at JCU Invitational

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OHIO  --  The Hiram College men's golf team placed 10th at the Poppa Flowers Fall Invitational hosted by John Carroll University at the Shaker Heights Country Club in Shaker Heights.  [Results]

The Terriers ended the single-round event with a team-total of 349 strokes to place 10th of 11 teams.  Host school John Carroll finished as the top team with 297 strokes and was followed by Otterbein University in second with 304 strokes.  Baldwin Wallace University and The College of Wooster were tied for third with 307 strokes each.

Individually for Hiram, sophomore Jon Hall (Barberton) and freshman Danny Essel (Euclid) posted the low rounds for the team both finishing with 86 strokes.  Sophomore Kyle Meggas (Lakewood) was third at 87 strokes and junior Ethan Tope (Dalton/Waynedale) recorded the fourth-lowest round of 90 strokes.  Rounding out the Hiram competitors was senior Corey Navarro (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) who carded a 122 for the one-day event.

Hiram will next compete at the Kenyon College Invitational on Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 29-30 in Gambier.  The first round is set to begin at 9 a.m. at the Mount Vernon Country Club.
