Men's Swimming & Diving falls in first dual meet of season to Mount Union

ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The Hiram College men's swimming & diving team fell at Mount Union in its first dual meet of the season on Saturday.

The Purple Raiders (2-0) were victorious by a 133-59 score.

The Terriers (0-1) were led by senior Jordan Canevari (Vero Beach, Fla./St. Edward's) who touched second in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 11:37.97.

Canevari was first in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:21.31, with sophomore Julian Gilbert (University Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) finishing right behind in 6:05.55.

Freshman Reeve Bowling (Minneapolis, Minn./Thomas Jefferson) was third in the 200-yard freestyle, with a time of 1:58.91. He also finished fourth in the 100-yard butterfly.

Senior Danny Essel (Euclid, Ohio) and sophomore Jory Gomes (Elk Grove, Calif./Consumres Oaks) finished in the top two spots in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:03.89 and 1:12.41, respectively.

Hiram will be back at it on Friday, hosting Oberlin in a dual meet at 6 p.m.
