April 18 - GREENCASTLE, Ind. - The Hiram College softball team dropped a pair of North Coast Athletic Conference decisions to NCAC-leading DePauw on Tuesday afternoon.
The Tigers came into today's doubleheader with a perfect, 6-0, record, having already swept Wooster, Ohio Wesleyan and Oberlin along the way. DePauw then remained undefeated, taking both games over the Terriers, 9-1, in five innings.
In game one, Hiram fell behind 9-0 before getting their first run in the top of the fifth inning on a bases-loaded single from senior Heather Pahoresky. The Terriers finished the game with a trio of hits, including singles from Dana Perrotta and Brittany Zajac.
The Terriers once again played from behind early in game two, surrendering six runs in the bottom of the first. This time, the run for Hiram came off the bat of Shalynn Call, who drove home Perrotta with a RBI single in the third.
Overall, Perrotta led the way, getting a pair of hits on the day. Zajac, Call and Pahoresky totaled the other three.
Hiram will have a quick turnaround as they continue a heavy slate of games over the last two weeks of the season. The Terriers will be back in action tomorrow, as they travel to Gambier for a conference doubleheader with Kenyon College. Action is scheduled to start at 3:30 PM.
