CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Sophomore center Mercedes Jones (Dayton, Ohio/Ponitz Career Technology Center) has been named NCAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
Jones was dominant in three Hiram games last week, averaging 20.3 ppg and 9.3 rpg.
On Tuesday, she tallied 14 points to lead the Terriers past Thiel (Pa.) in their home opener.
Jones followed that up with a 27 points performance in Hiram's 62-55 overtime victory over Penn State-Behrend. The 27 points scoring output tied her career-high.
She then went on to score 20 points and pull down a career-best 17 rebounds in a 70-68 loss to Fredonia State (N.Y.) on Saturday. The double-double was the second of the season and career for Jones.
Through four games, Jones is averaging 22.0 ppg and 10.5 rpg, which leads the team.
Hiram is off to a 3-1 start and will host Westminster (Pa.) in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
