POWELL, OHIO -- The Hiram College women's golf team finished eighth at the Ohio Wesleyan University Fall Invitational at Safari Golf Club in Powell.
Hiram shot a team-total 376 strokes on the final day to end the event with an overall total of 745 strokes (369+376=745) to place eighth of nine teams. Allegheny (Pa.) College won the team title with 635 strokes (321+314=635) and host school OWU was second at 667 strokes (344+323=667). Denison University rounded out the top three schools with 671 strokes (333+338=671).
Hiram was led by sophomore Jenelle Bayus (Cortland/Lakeview) who shot a two-day total 176 strokes (87+89=176) and placed in a tie for 28th overall individually. Fellow sophomore Megan Jennings (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) had the second lowest total for the Terriers of 187 strokes (95+92=187). Sophomore Alexa Griswold (Conneaut) was third with a tournament-total 189 strokes (94+95=189) and freshman Brogan Petree (Minerva) was fourth at 193 strokes (93+100=193). Senior Carrie Dyer (Canton/McKinley) rounded out the Hiram competitors with a total of 217 strokes (102+115=217).
Hiram will wrap-up its fall schedule when it competes at the one-day Westminster (Pa.) College Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 21 in New Wilmington, Pa.
