GAMBIER, OHIO -- The Hiram College women's lacrosse team lost to Kenyon College, 18-1, in a North Coast Athletic Conference game in Gambier.
Kenyon (8-3, 2-2 NCAC) recorded its first goal of the game at the 28:24 minute mark of the first half. A little over a minute later, Hiram (3-8, 0-3 NCAC) tied the game at a goal apiece when sophomore Hannah Schaefer (Kent/Roosevelt) capitalized on a free-position shot with 27:13 left to play in the period. The Ladies then went on a 17-0 scoring run that included 13 straight goals to end the half to regain the lead and take a 14-1 margin into the intermission.
In the second half, Kenyon recorded eight shots in the final 30 minutes with four of those shots finding the back of the net as the Ladies cruised to the 18-1 final.
In goal for Hiram, sophomore Rebecca Greenhouse (Pittsburgh, Pa./Winchester Thurston) played the entire game and had nine saves. She is now 3-8 overall for the season.
Hiram will look to end its five-game losing streak when it travels to Springfield for a NCAC matchup against Wittenberg University on Saturday, Apr. 12. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
