Swimming and Diving Falls to Oberlin in Conference Opener

Oct. 28 - OBERLIN, Ohio -- The Hiram College men's and women's swimming and diving teams were defeated by the Oberlin Yeomen and Yeowomen in their conference opener on Friday evening.
The two Oberlin teams both improve to a 1-0 (1-0, NCAC) record, while the Terriers fall to 0-2 (0-1, NCAC).
The final score of the men's meet was 110-49, while the women's final score was 141-45.
Alex Laird led the way for the Terrier men. Laird placed first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.70. Reeve Bowling also placed second in the 200-yard butterfly with a 2:23.92 time and third in the 50-yard freestyle with a 25.73 time. 
Jenna Nelson and Meredith Fitschen-Brown were the top finishers for the women's team. Both of them took the top two spots in the 200-yard breaststroke with 2:43.70 and 2:47.73 times.
Hiram will be back in action next Friday when they compete on the road against Malone at 6 p.m.
