Nov.3- HIRAM, Ohio- The Terrier swimming & diving teams competed in their first home meet of the season against Malone University on Friday evening at the Alumni Memorial Pool.
Malone captured the 89-51 victory on the women's side, and a 101-72 decision on the men's.
The Terrier men were led by freshman Elijah Skaggs, who captured two solo events in the 100-meter freestyle (56.06) and the 200-meter freestyle (2:04.96). Skaggs also helped the team grab a top finish in the 400-meter freestyle relay (4:04.97). The relay also included junior Reeve Bowling, and seniors Jory Gomes and Jordan Canevari.
Gunther slotted another top place finish in the 200-meter backstroke, coming in second with a time of 2:25.21.
The women were led by sophomore Jenna Nelson who snagged a victory first in the 400-meter freestyle (5:10.14) and then came back a race later to win the 200-meter breaststroke, clocking in at 3:02.72, over ten seconds faster than her competition.
The Terriers were also able to collect points in the 50-meter freestyle taking first and second place. Sophomore Kimmy Morrison finished first in a time of 32.98. Teammate Sierra Daniels trailing behind grabbed second in 34.78. Daniels also shined in the 100-meter freestyle coming in first (1:17.45).
The Terriers will hit the pool again on Saturday, November 4, as they take on the Wooster Fighting Scots. The action is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
