May 2 -DELAWARE, Ohio- The Hiram College baseball team dropped a pair of North Coast Athletic Conference games to Ohio Wesleyan University on Wednesday afternoon.
Hiram opened up the scoring with PJ Suso doubling to center field to score Curtis Caithaml. From there Ohio Wesleyan dominated the scoring, holding an 11-1 advantage over the Terriers in the first to the fifth inning.
In the top of the sixth, Hiram tallied seven of the eight runs of the game. Vince Lonigro kicked off the action with his first career home run to also bring home Will Howell and PJ Suso. Christian Owens collected his first run of the day off a single from Caithaml. Tyler Duben tallied a run off a balk, while Kyle Watson and Caithaml both scored on wild pitches. The Terriers cut their 10 point deficit down to three in one inning (11-8).
The Terriers were held scoreless for the remaining frames, securing game one for the Battling Bishops (20-8).
In the second game of the doubleheader, Hiram fell 20-1.
Ohio Wesleyan took advantage of the early scoring, tallying their first 10 of their 20 runs in the initial inning.
Kyle Watson responded in the seventh inning scoring the lone run of the game for the Terriers off a double from Caithaml.
Hiram will conclude their season with a doubleheader against Oberlin on Saturday, May 5. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 pm.
