The Hiram College men's basketball team was selected eighth in the North Coast Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, announced the NCAC on Tuesday afternoon.
The Terriers enter the 2018-19 season with a major overhaul of the team's roster, as Hiram was tasked with replacing six graduating seniors from a team that finished 15-11 last season. The 2017-18 team grabbed a top-four finish for the second time in three seasons.
Ahead of the new year, Hiram was selected eighth in the poll, garnering a total of 38 points. The Terriers finished just one point behind Oberlin College for seventh, but were 18 points clear of Kenyon College for ninth.
The preseason favorite was Wittenberg University, who garnered 97 points and seven first-place votes. The College of Wooster came second with 93, which was then followed by Ohio Wesleyan (74) and Wabash (65) to round out the top four.
Hiram will begin the 2018-19 season in Rochester, N.Y. as they head to Nazareth College for the BSG Tip-Off Tournament. The Terriers will then open their home schedule against Washington & Jefferson on November 24.
