WOOSTER, OHIO -- The Hiram College men's lacrosse team fell on the losing end of a 23-1 decision against The College of Wooster in a North Coast Athletic Conference game in Wooster.
Wooster (9-3, 2-2 NCAC) recorded the only scoring in the first half with five goals in the opening quarter and then six more scores in the second to lead 11-0 at halftime.
The offensive attack continued for the Fighting Scots in the second half with nine goals in the third quarter to take a commanding 20-0 advantage heading into the final 15 minutes. In the fourth quarter, Wooster tallied three more scores before Hiram (2-8, 0-4 NCAC) ended the possible shutout with a late goal with just 21 seconds remaining when freshman Garet Johnston (Kent/Wooster) found the back of the net on a man-up advantage. Sophomore John Deegan (Lakewood/St. Edward) was credited with an assist on the goal. But the score would come a bit too late as Wooster cruised to the 23-1 final.
