HIRAM, OHIO -- The Hiram College men's lacrosse team was defeated by No. 4 nationally-ranked Denison University, 27-2, in the North Coast Athletic Conference and season finale at Charles A. Henry Field.
Denison (15-0, 7-0 NCAC) scored early and often in the first half, beginning with nine goals in the opening quarter to lead 9-0 after the first 15 minutes. The Big Red then went on to add 12 more scores in the second quarter to lead 21-0 at the intermission.
The Denison offense struck for six more goals in the third to extend the margin to a commanding 27-0. Hiram (2-11, 0-7 NCAC) ended the possible shutout at the 13:41 minute mark of the fourth quarter when sophomore Chris Lekan (North Olmsted/Holy Name) scored on an unassisted goal to put Hiram on the board, 27-1. The Terriers found the back of the net a final time with 6:50 to play with a goal from junior Chris Minite (Aurora) to round out the scoring as Denison recorded a 27-2 victory.
In goal for Hiram, sophomore Sawyer Lott (Sunbury/Big Walnut) faced 42 shots and had 15 saves. He ends the season with 2-11 mark.
