Swimming & Diving Take on Wilmington in Home Dual Meet

Nov.11- HIRAM, Ohio- Despite a great showing from the Hiram College swimming and diving teams they were defeated by Wilmington College, Saturday afternoon.  

The final score on the men's side was Wilmington 106-93, and on the women's side Wilmington 141-27.  

The men's 200-meter medley relay kicked off the day with a second-place finish 2:18.36. The team included freshman Dion Thornton, senior Jory Gomes, senior Jordan Canevari, and freshman Brett Bentkowski 

Canevari also pulled out a win in the 400-meter freestyle (4:56.21). Teammate Michael Barber was on his heels but came in second with a time of 4:56.58. 

In one of their final races of the day Barber collected another second-place finish in the 800-meter freestyle in 10:14.92, while teammate Canevari trailed behind finishing third in 10:17.58. 

Freshman Elijah Skaggs helped set the tone on the men's side with two top place finishes. The first was a win in the 200-meter freestyle (2:03.34). The next was in the 100-meter freestyle where Skaggs finished second in 55.98.  

In a fight to the finish, freshman Brady Gunther pulled away from the group during the last second to win the 100-meter breaststroke in 1:05.86.  

Freshman Darien Street secured a victory in the 100-meter butterfly in 1:06.38, and second place in the 200-meter IM (2:36.73). 

Captain Reeve Bowling showed his senior leadership, adding some points for the Terriers coming in second in the 50-meter freestyle 26:31, and third in the 100 (57.77).  

Sophomore Jenna Nelson led the women's side with two second-place finishes in the 200-meter freestyle (2:30.07), and the 400-meter freestyle (5:15.15).  

The 200-meter medley made their stamp on the day clocking in a second-place time of 2:29.31. The relay featured freshman Nicki Prentler, sophomore Kimmy Morrison, junior Sierra Daniels, and freshman Kerrie Romagna.  

The Terriers will be back in action on Friday, November 17 at 6 p.m. when they host the Yellow Jackets of Baldwin Wallace.
