Hiram College to Host Division I Men's Volleyball Showcase

Oct. 18 – HIRAM, Ohio – Hiram College athletics, and head men's volleyball coach Kyle Mars, are pleased to announce that Hiram will be hosting a Division I Men's Volleyball Showcase, on Saturday, Nov. 11 at Price Gymnasium.

The day will feature pre-season games between four NCAA Division I institutions; including Penn State University, Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW), Ball State University and St. Francis University.

Along with the four Division I matchups, Coach Mars will be holding a College Prospect clinic for players in grades 10-12.

"This is a great opportunity for Northeast Ohio to see the highest level of men's collegiate volleyball," commented Coach Mars. "I am excited that we are able to continue to spread the sport in an area of the country that has embraced the growth of the game."

The pre-season showcase between the four Division I programs will kick off at 12:00 p.m. with reining Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) champion Penn State taking on IPFW. Ball State and St. Francis are then scheduled to play at 2:30, followed by Ball State and Penn State (5 PM) and IPFW and St. Francis (7:30 PM).

Tickets for the showcase will be sold at the gate for $6 and will include an all-day pass. Hiram students, faculty and staff will be admitted free with college ID.

Area High School and club teams are encouraged to attend and will be given a discounted rate of $50 per team. Any team interested in purchasing a team pass can sign up here.

Prior to the showcase, players between grades 10-12 are encouraged to sign up for the volleyball clinic being held from 8:30-10:30 in Hiram's Price Gymnasium.

Players will learn new skills taught by NCAA men's college coaches, as well as take part in a discussion on college recruiting and opportunities to play at the next level.

Cost of the clinic is $40 for the event, or $45 for the clinic and an all-match pass to the preseasons showcase.
