HIRAM, OHIO – Hiram College softball standout Kaitlyn Hager was named to the 2018 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III All-Central Regional Team this season. After collecting an honorable mention selection from the North Coast Athletic Conference the freshman added another accolade to her resume tallying second-team honors from the NFCA.
Hager is the first freshmen player for the Terriers to be named to the NFCA Division III All-Central Regional Team, and the first to earn the second-team honor since Kelly Langland in 2011. Langland was apart of a team that posted a school-record 29 victories, including a second NCAC Tournament Championship and a second appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament that saw Hiram advance all the way to the Regional Championship game for the first time in program history.
In Hager's first season she led the NCAC in batting average (.473), on-base percentage (.558) and slugging percentage (.742). She finished the season with 45 hits, including a team-best 16 for extra bases.
Hager earned All-Region honors for the first time in her career after leading the Terriers in both walks (17) and stolen bases (12), with 16 multi-hit games and a total of 14 RBIs. Defensively, the rookie posted a notable .889 fielding percentage with 42 putouts, and 14 assists in 33 games as an outfielder for the Terriers.
In total, there are 360 players chosen for the DIII All-Region softball teams. The players are nominated and selected by NFCA member coaches in each of the eight Division III regions.
