HIRAM, OHIO -- Sophomore Kayla Yost (Norwalk/Perkins) recorded her first career double-double as the Hiram College women's basketball team topped Chatham (Pa.) 77-57 on Sunday afternoon.
The Terriers improve to 1-1 on the year, while the Cougars drop to 1-1.
Yost finished with a 25 points and 14 rebounds, both of which are new career-highs. She finished the game 12-of-17 from the field.
Chatham was led by Megan Sieg, who finished with 13 points.
The Terriers came out the gate strong and a layup by Yost gave them an early 10-2 lead.
Hiram continued to expand its lead and used a late 13-5 run to take a 36-22 advantage into the half.
A jumper by Ratliff with 9:14 left to play, capped off a 10-0 run and gave Hiram a 57-36 lead and put the game away.
The Terriers finished 33-of-62 (53.2 percent) from the field, while the Cougars were 23-of-55 (41.8 percent).
Hiram also dominated the rebounding battle, grabbing 46 compared to 25 for Chatham.
The Terriers outscored the Cougars 52-28 in the paint and 20-7 in second chance points.
Hiram will return to action on Friday, when it hosts Albion (Mich.) in the Terrier Tip-Off Classic at 8 p.m. The Terriers will also take on Calvin (Mich.) on Saturday at 3 p.m.
