Nov.8- CLEVELAND, Ohio- The Hiram College women's basketball team was tabbed to finish seventh in the North Coast Athletic Conference preseason coaches' poll.
DePauw, last year's NCAC champions were picked to finish in first with 76 points, Kenyon received 64, and Oberlin trailed with 63 points. The Terriers with 36 points are seeded in front of Allegheny (18) and Wooster (17).
Hiram will return three starters; seniors Kayla Yost, Allison Vannoy, and Kaylee Shockley. The trio helped lead the team to program records in both wins (17) and conference victories (nine) while also lifting the Terriers to their first-ever first-round home game in the NCAC Championship Tournament.
Shockley, an all-conference honoree in 2016-17, was the lone player in the conference to rank in the top 20 in every major statisitcal category. She averaged 10 points, five rebounds and 2.5 steals per game. Yost finished third in the NCAC in rebounds per game, while Vannoy ranked second in the league in total assists.
The Terriers will kick off their season on Saturday, Nov.11 at the Lauren Hill Tip-Off Classic when they face Mount Saint Joseph at 6:30 pm.
