DANVILLE, IND. -- The Hiram College women's golf team placed seventh following the final round of the North Coast Athletic Conference Championship Event #1 hosted by DePauw (Ind.) University at Twin Bridges Golf Course in Danville, Ind.
Hiram shot a team score of 408 strokes on the final day and ended the two-day event with a total of 800 strokes to finish seventh of seven teams (392+408=800). Host school DePauw came in first in the team standings with an event-total 641 strokes (322+319=641). Wittenberg University was second with 644 strokes (319+325=644) and Denison University was third at 665 strokes (335+330=665).
The Terriers were led by sophomore Megan Jennings (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) who shot an 87 on the final day and ended the tournament with an overall score of 178 strokes (91+87=178) and was tied for 24th overall. Fellow sophomore Jenelle Bayus (Cortland/Lakeview) was second with a total of 203 strokes (97+106=203), while Taylor Stott (Akron/Archishop Hoban) was third with 207 strokes (104+103=207). Sophomore Alexa Griswold (Conneaut) had the fourth-lowest score for Hiram at 212 strokes (100+112=212) and freshman Brogan Petree (Minerva) rounded out the Hiram competitors with 238 strokes (115+123=238).
Hiram will compete in the final two-day event that makes up the NCAC Championship series next weekend (Saturday-Sunday, May 3-4) in Crawfordsville, Ind. Wabash (Ind.) College will serve as host with the event being played at the Crawfordsville Country Club.
