HIRAM, Ohio -- The Hiram College softball and women's lacrosse team have teamed up to host the "Battle for Britt" during their respective home games on Sunday, April 17.
Britt Host, a 15-year old from Waynedale, Ohio, is currently battling Ewing's Sarcoma. A tumor on her spine has left her paralyzed from the waist down. Host has gradually regained function in her legs through rehab and the support of Hiram.
The softball and women's lacrosse team have adopted Host for the season and will dedicate their games on Sunday, April 17, for her.
Host will throw out or catch the first pitch of the opening game of softball's doubleheader against Marietta at 1 p.m. She will then lead the Terriers out onto the field at the women's lacrosse game against Hilbert (N.Y.) at 4 p.m.
Donations will be collected throughout the day at all of the games. T-shirts and wristbands will also be sold in support of Host. Fans are also encouraged to wear blue, the favorite color of Host.
