HIRAM, OHIO -- The Hiram College women's soccer team was shut out by John Carroll University, 2-0, in a non-conference game at the Hiram Soccer Complex.
With the loss, the Terriers are now 3-4-1 overall and the Blue Streaks improve to 4-3 overall for the season.
Following a scoreless first half, JCU outshot Hiram, 11-2, in the second period and recorded the first goal of the game at the 59:42 minute mark off the foot of Jackie Murrer to give the Blue Streaks a 1-0 lead. JCU got some breathing room nearing the midway point of the period during the 64th minute when Genny Georgen found the back of the net to put the Streaks up, 2-0. The two goals would be all that JCU would need as the Streaks held Hiram scoreless for a 2-0 shutout victory.
Freshman goaltender Kailie Reed (Wadsworth) played all 90 minutes for Hiram, but suffered the loss and is now 2-2 overall for the year. She allowed two goals and had six saves.
Hiram is scheduled to host DePauw (Ind.) University on Saturday, Sept. 22 in the North Coast Athletic Conference opener. The game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
