Jan.27- HIRAM, Ohio- The Hiram College swimming and diving team ended their home 2017-2018 campaign in a dual meet against Wittenberg, Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers led 123-36 on the men's side and 121-40 on the women's.
Prior to the evening matchup, the Terriers honored two seniors who for the final time would represent Hiram at Alumni Memorial Pool. The seniors included Jory Gomes and Jenni Heid.
The senior honoree Jory Gomes also finished second in the 400 meter IM in a time of 5:52.84.
Captain Reeve Bowling secured a victory in the 50-meter freestyle (0:26.09), and a second place finish in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:17.19).
Junior Michael Barber wrapped up the men's group clocking in a few seconds shy of first in the 400-meter freestyle (4:58.63).
The Terriers also had some runner-up performances, starting with the 200-meter medley relay (2:37.16), that included freshman Mallory Best, junior Sierra Daniels, sophomore Kimmy Morrison, and sophomore Jill Schmidt. Morrison also finished second in the 100-meter freestyle in 1:23.11.
Captain Jenna Nelson also added some runner-up points to the Terriers score in the 400-meter freestyle (5:11.94) and 800-meter freestyle (10:36.74).
The Terriers will head to Denison next to compete in the four-day North Coast Athletic Conference Championships from February 14-17.
