Oct.19- ALLIANCE, Ohio - The Hiram College swimming and diving team fell to Mount Union in their season opener, Saturday afternoon.
The Raiders captured the 130-41 victory on the women's side, and a 146-13 decision on the men's.
Devin Gear represented the men's team, competing in three events. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Gear finished in 1:19.61. The sophomore also swam in the 100-yard backstroke finishing eleven seconds faster than his seed time.
The women's 200-yard medley relay swam almost six-seconds faster than their seed time (2:10.89). The team included sophomore Angie Ross, senior Jenna Nelson, sophomore Carlee Lisser, and junior Nicki Prentler.
The Terriers secured two victories during the afternoon. Nelson won the 100-yard breaststroke clocking at 1:14.95, while Lisser swam a first-place time of 6:05.95 in the 500-yard freestyle.
Ross snagged a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (1:09.54), before capturing a third-place finish in the 200-yard IM in 2:48.52.
The Terriers will return to the pool on Saturday, Oct.26 when they head to Wooster. The tri-meet with Wooster and Notre Dame is set for a 1:00 pm start.
