GAMBIER, OHIO -- The Hiram College volleyball team opened NCAC play with a 3-1 win over Kenyon and topped non-conference foe Otterbein 3-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The Terriers have won six in a row and are now 12-1 on the season and 1-0 in the NCAC.
In the match against Kenyon (2-12, 0-1), Hiram won 25-10, 22-25, 25-17, 25-14, while hitting an impressive .413 as a team, which included a .471 mark in the first set and a .536 mark in the fourth set.
Junior Lindsay Brewer (Barberton/Manchester) led the way with a match and season-high 23 kills and just one error. Sophomore Marissa Jay (Parma/Padua Franciscan) finished with 11 kills and senior Shirjoma Jacobs (Maple Heights) added 10.
Senior Regina Zyle (Cleveland/Beaumont) had a match-high 24 digs, with senior Jennifer Yardas (Moon Township, Pa./Moon) and sophomore Laura Kelly (Massillon/Jackson) finished with 12 digs and 11 digs, respectively.
Against Otterbein (6-8), it was Brewer pacing HC with 20 kills, one error and a .633 hitting percentage as the Terriers topped the Cardinals 25-21, 25-19, 15-25, 25-18.
Jay added 10 kills and Moore dished out a match and season-high 43 assists.
Zyle led Hiram defensively with 14 digs and Kelly added 13 more.
Hiram will return to action on Tuesday, when it hits the road to take on Heidelberg at 7:00 p.m.
