HIRAM, OHIO -- The Hiram College volleyball team sent its four seniors out on a winning note, sweeping Oberlin 25-12, 25-10, 25-22 in its NCAC finale on Wednesday evening.
The Terriers are now 20-6 on the season and finish NCAC play with a 6-2 mark. The Yeowomen fall to 11-6, 2-6.
Hiram will be the No. 3 seed in the NCAC Tournament, which will begin on November 7 at Wittenberg.
Junior Lindsay Brewer (New Franklin/Manchester) led Hiram with 11 kills on 20 attempts. She did not have a error in the match.
The Terriers took an early 7-6 lead, before reeling off a 11-2 run to take an 18-8 lead in the opening set. Hiram did not look back, taking the first set 25-12.
In the second set, Hiram opened up a 9-2 lead and built a 21-9 advantage, cruising to the victory.
The third set was tied at 16-16, before Hiram won five straight points. A kill from senior Shirjoma Jacobs (Maple Heights) clinched the set and match for the Terriers.
Hiram had 35 kills and hit .370 as a team, while Oberlin had 27 kills and hit just .010.
Hiram will conclude its regular season on Saturday with matches against St. John Fisher (N.Y.) at noon and Geneseo State (N.Y.) at 2 p.m.
